The best way for me to stay motivated to exercise is to sign up for a race. It is even better if I know that a few friends have signed up for the same race, because it will keep me motivated to train, and make the event even more fun.
This page will become somewhat of an upcoming event calendar, where others with PD can share what events they are planning to do and perhaps contact info, if others are interested and would like to meet up at the event.

2025 Boston Marathon April 21

BAA 5K April 19
BAA para-athlete and adaptive athlete page
Both of these races have coordination impaired para-athlete divisions (T35-T38) with prize money available to the top 3 men and top 3 women. No qualifying time needed for 5k. To qualify for marathon, you will need to have an eligible sub 6 hour marathon to submit.
Last year there were US Para-athlete classifiers in Boston the week before the race if you would like to try to get a para-athlete classification.
Duo teams
One friend with PD suggested the idea of putting together Duo teams at an event. This would mean pairing someone with PD with someone else with PD who is no longer able to do the race on their own and have them do the race together in a way modified to the abilities of the person with more advanced PD.
Dick and Ricky Hoyt inspired so many people in their years of competing in running events and triathlons. We are thinking something along those lines.
We could also pair people with PD to ride together on a tandem at various bike events across the country, and try to help with making the equipment available to make this happen.
This would have the potential to inspire others and would be super fun.
If you have any thoughts on this, or would like to help coordinate some of this, please reply in the comments or email parkinsonzexercise@gmail.com.
